DigiGirlz Morocco is a groundbreaking initiative launched in 2017 by Association Anoual and the U.S. Mission in Morocco, designed to engage girls currently enrolled in high school, aged between 15 and 18 years old and interested in science and technology; and facilitate their avocation of STEM careers through mentoring and tutoring. Through the years, we have developed the concept of DigiGirlz to reach out to more girls and empower more people, to come up with the idea of the DigiGirlz Mentorship Program.

AGENDA OF THE PROGRAM

The program starts by launching a call for applications to select teams of at least 4 female university students representing the same campus. Then the selected teams will be trained and coached for two training days to develop their skills in advocacy leadership, design thinking, communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and also in the STEM field.

The second phase of the program will start once these university students will be back in their cities where they have to select around 10 female high school students from their city, each university team will act as mentors, coaches, and role models for high school teams, Each high school team will have 2 pieces of training per months along 4 months so they can develop a technological project aiming to solve a social issue in their community.

After 4 months of training and mentorship, the teams will be invited to a national competition in order to present their projects in front of a high-caliber committee, who are going to evaluate the projects based on a set of criteria namely: innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit. During this event, the girls will also have the chance to meet STEM employees in order to have an inside look at what it’s like to work in the field.
